Metra BNSF train hits, kills pedestrian near Riverside station

A Metra express prepare hit and killed a passerby close to the BNSF Line's Riverside station Wednesday evening, as indicated by authorities.

Prepare No. 1235, which left downtown at 2:30 p.m. also, was running express to Downers Grove, hit a person on foot close to the Riverside station, a Metra representative said. Starting examination demonstrates a male person on foot ventured before the prepare around 2:50 p.m. close Longcommon Road—which is only east of the station—said Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel.

Riverside crisis teams at first were called to the zone when onlookers saw a 16-year-old kid get hit by a stone or flotsam and jetsam that may have gotten kicked up when the prepare hit the passerby, police said.

Officers acknowledged once they touched base at the scene that the person on foot had been hit by the prepare. The individual hit by the prepare had not had any distinguishing proof on him, and his character and age had not yet been resolved, Weitzel said.

The prepare had been planned to land in Aurora at 3:28 p.m. All trains in the two headings were incidentally ended in view of the mischance.
